Dexter's dogs daycare borehamwood, radlett, elstree - FAQs

Do I need to book the same day/days each week?

No :)  Our aim is to make life easier for you so if you need flexibility, we will do our very best to help.

Some owners do prefer to reserve the same day/days each week and that's also absolutely fine.

Some days are more popular than others and so do need to be reserved each week.

Does my dog need to be neutered/spayed?

We don't expect young puppies to have been neutered or spayed.

However, if you have a boy older than six months, alas we can only accept them if they are neutered.

If you have an adult female who has not been spayed, they are welcome to come for daycare but when their season starts, they would have to stop coming for a good month or until they are no longer in season.

I don't need daycare but would still like to send my dog to you for boarding?

As we are small and have limited places,  we feel it's only fair to give boarding priority to our daycare clients who send their dogs to us regularly.

In addition, we only board dogs that we know well, so without regular daycare we can't offer overnights.

What's the latest I can come and collect my dog after daycare?

Daycare finishes at 6pm every evening.

We do ask that owners arrive no later than this, as we still have to do admin and cleaning once all our gorgeous pups go home :)

do you offer weekend boarding?

Yes, we do take care of regular daycare dogs for weekends also.

We are not available every weekend  - so if you have some special dates in mind, please let us know as soon as possible so we can keep them free for you:)

Please note that weekend rates are slightly higher than weekday ones:

Sat daycare + overnight:  - £50

Sunday daycare + overnight  - £50

How do I arrange to send my dog for daycare?

All new dogs must come for a meet and greet so that I can get a sense of their energy level, whether they are confident or  maybe a bit shy, and how they respond to other dogs, people, and the world in general.

The meet is a walk which lasts for around an hour and it's also a chance for you to ask as many questions as you like regarding daycare etc.

Each daycare is a bit different, just as every dog is different with their own unique personalities and needs.

If at the meet and greet, we feel that we're not the perfect fit, then I will always try and help find an alternative daycare.

The top priority is always that your dog will be happy and relaxed.

If it seems that we would be a good fit, we will arrange a day for your dog to come and meet some of our other lovely daycare pups.

Small-group refers to the number of dogs, not their size. We intentionally keep numbers low so we can supervise dogs properly, understand their individual needs, and maintain a calm, friendly atmosphere.

Why is boarding only available to daycare dogs?

do guest dogs sleep in your rooms and on your beds?

Because familiarity is key to a settled overnight stay. Dogs who attend daycare already know us, know each other, know our home, and our routines, allowing us to offer a calmer, more personal boarding experience.

.Some do - if that’s what they’re most comfortable with. Others prefer their own space. Sleeping arrangements are always guided by the individual dog’s needs.  The photo just above for example, shows two girls who are best friends, who have been coming here for daycare together for years, and who always choose to curl up together when they're both boarding with us:)
